First Responder Compassion Recharge Training
The Compassion Recharge training covers secondary trauma, compassion fatigue, sources of stress, bio-psychological consequences of stress, creating a positive work environment, supporting co-workers (including peer screening for suicide), and practical strategies to boost health and resilience in first responders. This content will be delivered in small groups through interactive presentations, worksheets, and exercises. It does not require participants to share any personal information and is aimed at self-reflection, not group activities.
This workshop will be taught by Dr. M. Alexis Kennedy (Ph.D., J.D., M.A., B.A.), a trauma researcher and Associate Professor at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. She has a doctorate in forensic psychology and over 25 years of experience doing research on trauma related to sexual victimization, human trafficking, and child abuse. She has completed several professional certifications on compassion fatigue. Dr. Kennedy has delivered compassion fatigue training to firefighters, dispatchers, legal professionals, therapists, doctors, nurses, and others.
